An Efficient Modeling of Air Gap and Nonlinear Analysis of Magnetic Equivalent Circuit for Large Turbogenerators Under No-Load Condition

Linlin Zhang

Summary: In this article, a fast and accurate modeling method for large turbogenerators is proposed using a 2-D nonlinear magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC) model that considers saturation and rotor motion. The use of continuous fitting function is found to be crucial for the convergence of nonlinear iteration, and a simple and effective MEC for the air gap is provided.

Segmented IPT Coil Design for Continuous Multiple Charging of an Electrified Monorail System

Eun S. Lee et al.

Summary: This article proposes inductive power transfer (IPT) systems based on segmented transmitter (Tx) coils for continuous wireless power delivery to multiple transport robots in an electrified monorail system (EMS). The segmented Tx coil structure allows for flexible installation, easy fabrication, and insensitivity to IPT characteristics. The proposed IPT system uses folded Tx coils and an optimally sized Rx coil to eliminate magnetic dead zones between adjacent Tx coils. Experimental results show that the proposed system achieves higher dc power efficiency compared to conventional Tx coils.

A New Coil Structure of Dual Transmitters and Dual Receivers With Integrated Decoupling Coils for Increasing Power Transfer and Misalignment Tolerance of Wireless EV Charging System

Amran Hossain et al.

Summary: This article introduces a new inductive power transfer (IPT) system with dual transmitters and dual receivers, as well as integrated decoupling coils. The proposed decoupling coils not only mitigate the mutual inductances of the same-side coils, but also participate in power transmission, and have good misalignment performance.

Towards automatic configuration and programming of a manufacturing cell

Halldor Arnarson et al.

Summary: Manufacturing industries are evolving towards customized production to create high-quality products with innovative technologies, low prices, and high reliability. Reconfigurable manufacturing systems (RMS) are considered an attractive approach to achieve flexible manufacturing. However, the reconfiguration and programming of RMS are time-consuming and labor-intensive. This paper proposes a highly flexible RMS system with advanced robotics, a digital twin programming interface, and a wireless power transfer (WPT) solution to address these challenges. By reducing human interaction and setup time, this system shows promising potential for new manufacturing lines.

A Coupling Mechanism With Multidegree Freedom for Bidirectional Multistage WPT System

Jinde Wu et al.

Summary: A bidirectional multistage wireless power transfer (BM-WPT) method is proposed to provide flexible power supply for multiple arm devices, featuring a bowl-coupling structure and three-dimensional orthogonal ring coil arrangement to reduce coupling variation against joint rotation. Special resonant topology design for each stage allows energy to be injected or output freely regardless of energy transfer direction, ultimately reducing sensitivity of output voltages with load variation. Simulation and experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.
