Computationally Guided DIW Technology to Enable Robust Printing of Inks with Evolving Rheological Properties

Maria Luisa Lopez-Donaire et al.

Summary: Soft multifunctional materials with mechanical sensing or actuation in response to physical stimuli are important for bioengineering and soft electronics applications. However, manufacturing complex shapes with inks that change properties during printing remains a challenge. To address this, a hybrid theoretical-experimental framework using ink writing technology is proposed to optimize printability of time-dependent viscosity inks. The method eliminates the need for additives and is validated by printing magnetorheological elastomers and conductive soft materials.

Magnetically Tunable Transmissibility for Magneto-Responsive Elastomers Consisting of Magnetic and Nonmagnetic Particles

Kejun Chen et al.

Summary: Vibration experiments were conducted on a bimodal magneto-responsive elastomer to investigate the influence of nonmagnetic particles on natural frequency and vibration transmissibility. It was found that the addition of nonmagnetic particles increased the natural frequency of the elastomer and exhibited a proportional relationship with the change in storage modulus and (G/m)(1/2) value.

Magnetorheological Elastomer Films with Controlled Anisotropic Alignment of Polystyrene-Modified Fe3O4 Nanoplates

Chen Shen et al.

Summary: A facile method was developed to prepare high-performance magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) films by aligning magnetite nanoplates in synthetic rubbers under an external magnetic field. The introduction of polystyrene chains onto the surface of the nanoplates ensured the dispersion stability and interfacial compatibility. The spiral structures formed by PS-modified nanoplates exhibited a magnetic field-responsive behavior and enhanced the rheological performance of MRE films.
