An approximate deconvolution method for the luminescence intensity ratio calculations from overlapping emissions

Aleksandar Ciric et al.

Summary: Two experimental practices in luminescence intensity ratio thermometry, based on SD and WS, were analyzed for their performances in the case of sharp emission overlapping with a broad one. A new method named AD is proposed as an alternative, which retains the simplicity of WS while matching the sensitivities of the SD method. Although temperature resolution is not improved, the AD method allows fit to the Boltzmann equation and extraction of physically relevant parameters.

Upconversion luminescence and temperature sensing characteristics of Yb3+/Tm3+:KLa(MoO4)2 phosphors

Yuhong Zhang et al.

Summary: Yb3+/Tm3+ codoped KLa(MoO4)(2) phosphors were synthesized by a hydrothermal method, and their upconversion emission spectra were observed under 980 nm excitation. The temperature sensing characteristic based on the fluorescence intensity ratio was studied, with a maximum sensitivity of 2.93% K-1 at 453 K. The results showed that the phosphor could be used in temperature sensors, with higher sensitivity for non-thermally coupled levels than thermally coupled levels.
