Simultaneous Measurement of Seawater Temperature and Pressure With Polydimethylsiloxane Packaged Optical Microfiber Coupler Combined Sagnac Loop

Junyang Lu et al.

Summary: In this study, a reflective optical fiber sensor based on a PDMS-sealed optical microfiber coupler combined with a sagnac loop was proposed to achieve simultaneous measurement of temperature and pressure in seawater. The sensor showed improved sensitivity and structural stability compared to bare fiber sensors. Experimental results demonstrated the sensor's ability to demodulate temperature and pressure sensing simultaneously, with average errors of 1.61% and 5.02%, respectively. The sensor's compact structure, ease of fabrication, high sensitivity, fast response speed, and high stability make it comparable to existing TD sensors for marine environmental monitoring and ocean dynamics research.

Magnetic field and temperature two-parameter sensor based on optical microfiber coupler interference (OMCI) wrapped with magnetic fluid and PDMS

Shangpeng Qin et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an optical fiber magnetic field and temperature sensor based on OMC, PDMS, and MF, which has high sensitivity, low cost, and can sense magnetic field and temperature separately. The sensor characteristics were analyzed theoretically and verified experimentally, showing maximum magnetic field sensitivity of 96.8 pm/Oe and maximum temperature sensitivity of 919.1 pm/degrees C. The sensor's cross-sensitivity was overcome by establishing a sensitivity matrix and optimizing the demodulation matrix through size design of the PDMS package and OMC structure.
