A novel smartphone app to change risk behaviors of women after gestational diabetes: A randomized controlled trial

Anne L. Potzel et al.

Summary: This study tested whether a smartphone-delivered intervention called TRIANGLE is accepted by women after gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and alters cardiometabolic risk behaviors and outcomes. The results did not show the efficacy of the TRIANGLE intervention, but the app was well accepted and considered helpful by most users.

Differential central regulatory mineralocorticoidreceptor systems for anxiety and depression - Could KCNJ5 be an interesting target for further investigations in major depression?

Christian Adolf et al.

Summary: The mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) is suggested to play a role in the pathophysiology of depression and anxiety, with different central pathways involved. Studies in patients with primary aldosteronism (PA) have provided support for this hypothesis.

Atherosclerotic Burden and Arterial Stiffness are Not Increased in Patients with Milder Forms of Primary Aldosteronism Compared to Patients with Essential Hypertension

Christian Lottspeich et al.

Summary: This study found that the arterial stiffness and atherosclerotic burden in patients with milder forms of PA are comparable to patients with EH, but after treatment, the arterial stiffness in PA patients significantly decreased. Therefore, there is an argument for a more liberal use of mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists in the treatment of patients with hypertension.

Differential effects of reduced mineralocorticoid receptor activation by unilateral adrenalectomy vs mineralocorticoid antagonist treatment in patients with primary aldosteronism-Implications for depression and anxiety

Harald Murck et al.

Summary: The mineralocorticoid receptor and aldosterone, two key factors in the pathophysiology of depression, may be targeted for therapeutic interventions. Analysis of patient data revealed that different treatments for primary aldosteronism had varying effects on depression and anxiety symptoms, suggesting distinct mechanistic pathways for these two conditions mediated via the mineralocorticoid receptor.

A Smartphone App (TRIANGLE) to Change Cardiometabolic Risk Behaviors in Women Following Gestational Diabetes Mellitus: Intervention Mapping Approach

Anne Lotte Potzel et al.

Summary: The study systematically planned and developed a theory- and evidence-based mHealth intervention to change cardiometabolic risk behaviors in women during the first 5 years post-GDM, meeting women's expected standards of commercial health apps. The resulting TRIANGLE app showed high acceptance, perceived quality, and impact on health behaviors in user studies, with potential to support behavior change for cardiometabolic disease prevention pending further refinement and testing in clinical trials. Intervention mapping steps 5 and 6 may support the integration of the TRIANGLE intervention into routine care.

Effect of Salt Substitution on Cardiovascular Events and Death

B. Neal et al.

Summary: The study found that among individuals with a history of stroke or aged 60 or older with high blood pressure, using a salt substitute can reduce the rates of stroke, major cardiovascular events, and death.
