Green synthesized cobalt oxide nanoparticles with photocatalytic activity towards dye removal

Ramesh Vinayagam et al.

Summary: The synthesis of cobalt oxide nanoparticles (CONPs) using leaf extract of Muntingia calabura as a mediator was achieved through a rapid and simple method. The CONPs exhibited good photocatalytic activity against methylene blue (MB) dye, degrading 88% of 10 mg/L MB dye within 300 min of exposure to sunlight. The CONPs also showed a high BET specific surface area and mesoporous nature, indicating their potential as effective photocatalysts.
