Enhanced adsorption capacity of low-cost magnetic clinoptilolite powders/beads for the effective removal of methylene blue: Adsorption and desorption studies

Summary: The study prepared Clinoptilolite/Fe3O4 (Clin/Fe3O4) nanocomposite powders and Alginate/Clinoptilolite/Fe3O4 (Alg/Clin/Fe3O4) nanocomposite beads for methylene blue (MB) cationic dye removal. The synthesized adsorbents were characterized and showed high efficiency in MB dye removal, exceeding 90%. The adsorption process followed the Langmuir isotherm model, with a monolayer adsorption capacity determined for each adsorbent. The kinetic data indicated a pseudo-second order (PSO) kinetic model and the thermodynamic results showed that the adsorption process was exothermic and spontaneous, with regeneration experiments demonstrating good potential for reuse.

The nanocomposite hydrogel exhibited higher adsorption properties towards basic dyes than acidic dyes.

Gamma irradiation synthesis of pectin- based biohydrogels for removal of lead cations from simulated solutions

Summary: In this study, bio-based hydrogels composed of pectin and polyacrylic acid were prepared by gamma radiation and reinforced with different ratios of gallic acid. The results showed that the incorporation of gallic acid enhanced the swelling performance of the hydrogel, reaching an optimum value before decreasing. The hydrogels displayed excellent antibacterial activity and efficient removal of lead ions.

Effect of Pyrolysis Temperature on Removal Efficiency and Mechanisms of Hg(II), Cd(II), and Pb (II) by Maize Straw Biochar

Summary: Pyrolysis temperature has a significant impact on the properties of biochar, which in turn affects the adsorption of heavy metal ions. Comparing biochars from the pyrolysis of maize straw and wheat straw, it was found that the biochar produced at 400 degrees C from maize straw showed the best physical and chemical properties, as well as a higher adsorption rate and capacity. The adsorption mechanisms involve surface precipitation of carbonates and phosphates, as well as complexation with oxygenated functional groups and delocalized pi electrons.

Application of Nano Bio-clay Composite in a Scaling-up Study for Wastewater Treatment

Summary: This study conducted experimental and field experiments to explore the most suitable catalysis method for removing Congo Red dye from industrial wastewater. The modified kaolinite/algae nanocomposite showed significantly higher adsorption ability compared to kaolinite and Ulva Lactuca. Factors such as catalyst dose, working temperature, and pH value were found to greatly affect the removal percentage of Congo Red dye. Field tests also revealed positive results, with a 91% efficiency in removing mixed dyes from industrial wastewater using the novel nano-adsorbents.

Chitosan/Graphene Oxide/Nanocellulose Composites for Removal of Cu(II) and Pb(II) Ions in Aqueous Solution

Preparation and characterizations of high doping chitosan/MMT nanocomposites films for removing iron from ground water

Summary: Chitosan and montmorillonite nanoparticles films were prepared with various weight percentages of MMT NPs, and the 40/60 wt% chitosan/MMT NPs ratio was found to be the most effective for iron adsorption, achieving 89.2% removal under optimal conditions. Analysis using XRD and FTIR-ATR confirmed the structural changes in the composite films, indicating interaction between chitosan and MMT NPs. Adsorption studies were conducted with Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms, showing that the process followed Langmuir isotherm and was spontaneous and endothermic. Characterization techniques such as HRSEM, EDX, and FTIR-ATR were used to confirm the adsorption process.
