Desiccation-Tolerance of Mycobacterium avium, Mycobacterium intracellulare, Mycobacterium chimaera, Mycobacterium abscessus and Mycobacterium chelonae

Joseph O. Falkinham et al.

Summary: The study measured the desiccation tolerance of various strains of Mycobacterium, showing that some strains have a higher tolerance to dry conditions compared to others. In particular, M. chimaera strains showed high survival rates in Sorin 3T heater-coolers.

Reduction of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 infectivity by admissible concentration of ozone gas and water

Takayuki Murata et al.

Summary: Research indicates that low-dose ozone, in the form of gas and water, is effective in reducing the infectivity of SARS-CoV-2. This method is particularly important in decreasing the survival of the virus in both air and water.

SARS-CoV-2 viability on different surfaces after gaseous ozone treatment: a preliminary evaluation

E. Percivalle et al.

Summary: COVID-19 is a global health threat with human-to-human transmission via respiratory droplets and contact with aerosol-infected surfaces being the major routes of virus spread. Disinfection of frequently touched surfaces and critical rooms, in addition to observing individual hygiene tips, is required to reduce the virus spreading. An investigation into the use of gaseous ozone as a potentially effective sanitizing method against the new coronavirus has been reported in this study.
