Mechanistic investigation of RhB photodegradation under low power visible LEDs using a Pd-modified TiO2/Bi2O3 photocatalyst: Experimental and DFT studies

Shankar Sharma et al.

Summary: An energy efficient hydrothermal route was used to synthesize binary TiO2/Bi2O3, followed by a chemical method to prepare novel ternary TiO2/Bi2O3/Pd nanocomposites. The resulting composites showed improved characteristics and high activity towards the degradation of RhB under visible LED irradiation, even after cyclic experiments. Scavenger studies revealed the active species responsible for RhB removal, making the synthesized composites promising for low power consuming photoreactors in water purification systems.

Preparation of a novel composite photocatalyst BiOBr/ZIF-67 for enhanced visible-light photocatalytic degradation of RhB

Ruiqiang Zhong et al.

Summary: A novel composite photocatalyst BiOBr/ZIF-67 was prepared by attaching ZIF-67 to the base material BiOBr using a one-pot method. The prepared composite photocatalysts were systematically analyzed, and their visible-light photocatalytic activity for the degradation of Rhodamine B was studied. The results showed that the BiOBr/ZIF-67(30%) exhibited the best photocatalytic activity, degrading 95.2% of RhB, which was 50% higher than pure BiOBr.
