Sibel Yazar et al.

Summary: In this study, excellent performance and wide operating voltage were achieved using an aqueous electrolyte in supercapacitors. Aqueous electrolytes are preferred over other electrolytes due to their safety, low cost, and non-toxicity. Polypyrrole (PPy) and aniline 2-sulfonic acid (ASA) modified electrodes were synthesized using a hydrothermal method on carbon felt (CFt) for supercapacitor applications. The concentration of ASA was found to affect the polymerization of PPy. Furthermore, an asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) with a high operating voltage of 3.0 V was assembled using graphite plate and 3 M KCI. The CFt/PPy/ASA(0.02)//GP configuration exhibited a high specific capacitance of 902.9 F g(-1) at a scan rate of 5 mV s(-1) and retained 93.6% of capacitance after 5000 cycle-life testing at a scan rate of 1000 mV s(-1). The assembled ASC demonstrated an ultrahigh energy density of 1005 Wh kg(-1) and a power density of 3000 W kg(-1) at a current density of 2 A g(-1). The impact of ASA concentration on supercapacitor performance was observed.

Daniela Morales et al.

Summary: Developing cost-effective and environmentally-friendly electrolyzers for hydrogen production is highly desired. The PPN+-CoOx nanocomposite material shows exceptional OER electrocatalytic activity at near-neutral pH conditions, making it one of the most active anodes employing cobalt oxide under mild pH conditions. The polypyrrole matrix plays a beneficial role in achieving stable and highly active anodes for water oxidation, demonstrating promising prospects for future applications.

The effect of shell modification in iron oxide nanoparticles on electrical conductivity in polythiophene-based nanocomposites

Roma Wirecka et al.

Summary: In the field of organic electronics, the alignment of energy levels between components is crucial for performance. Using hybrids of organic and inorganic materials can improve device properties. Modifying the medium in iron oxide nanoparticle synthesis can increase hole transportation efficiency without altering the nanoparticles' properties, leading to a significant increase in conductivity. Moreover, surface functionalization of iron oxide nanoparticles can reduce barriers at the nanoparticle/polythiophene interface and improve the electrical conductivity of the final material.

Physical and Chemical Properties of Composites Based on Polythiophene and Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticles for Photocatalysis

Salah Bassaid et al.

Summary: The study found that an increase in TiO2 percentage led to a continuous decrease in the relative concentration of methyl orange in the composite materials, while direct mixtures of polythiophene and TiO2 showed significant improvement in methyl orange decolorization. Furthermore, the adsorption study indicated that the maximum capacity of methyl orange adsorption on polythiophene and 40% TiO2 mixture was significantly higher compared to pure TiO2 and pure polythiophene.

Long-term electrochemical stability of polyaniline- and polypyrrole-based hydrogels

Michael A. Smirnov et al.

Summary: The electrochemical behavior of electroactive polymeric hydrogels based on polyaniline and polypyrrole was studied through 50,000 charge-discharge cycles, with PPy hydrogel showing more stability and higher capacitance retention. Overoxidation of PPy led to decreased electrochemical performance, while PANI exhibited crosslinking during cycling resulting in formation of a covering layer and decreased crystallinity.
