Efficient and high-throughput pseudorecombinant-chimeric Cucumber mosaic virus-based VIGS in maize

Huangai Li et al.

Summary: The study introduced an efficient maize VIGS system based on CMV, which overcomes several limitations of current maize VIGS and enables sustained and effective gene silencing. The system allows for easy gene cloning and high-throughput silencing in maize, providing a much-improved toolbox for large-scale functional genomics research in maize.

Genetic Diversity, Pathogenicity and Pseudorecombination of Cucurbit-Infecting Begomoviruses in Malaysia

Yu-Jeng Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the diversity and pathogenicity of begomoviruses associated with leaf curl disease in Malaysia, identifying the presence of Squash leaf curl China virus and Tomato leaf curl New Delhi virus. They also discovered different strains of ToLCNDV Malaysian isolates. Co-infection of viruses was found in bitter gourd, bottle gourd, and squash, with pseudorecombination of viral components occurring in some samples. The study confirmed the impact of the viral DNA-B on symptomology and host range.
