Ionic liquid-immobilized silica gel as a new sorbent for solid-phase extraction of heavy metal ions in water samples

The Thai Nguyen et al.

Summary: In this study, a new solid-phase extraction method with immobilized ionic liquid on silica was developed for the preconcentration of trace heavy metals from aqueous samples. The material was characterized and its performance for the extraction of different metal ions was evaluated. The results showed that the developed method allowed for efficient isolation and preconcentration of Cr3+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Cd2+, and Pb2+ heavy metal ions.

Toxicity of heavy metals in plants and animals and their uptake by magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles

Ata Ur Rehman et al.

Summary: Heavy metals pose a serious threat to plants and animals, leading to organ damage and diseases. Water, especially drinking water, is a major source of exposure. Magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles have emerged as the ultimate choice for water purification due to their eco-friendly, cost-effective, and easy-to-use properties.
