Effects of Wall Temperature on Hypersonic Impinging Shock-Wave/Turbulent-Boundary-Layer Interactions

Feng-Yuan Zuo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the characteristics and effects of hypersonic impinging shock-wave/turbulent-boundary-layer interactions at different wall temperatures and Reynolds numbers through numerical simulation. The results show that RANS is capable of predicting the main features, and it is found that cooling the wall and increasing the Reynolds number will reduce the interaction zone.

Comparative study on single-incident and dual-incident shock wave/turbulent boundary layer interactions with identical total deflection angle

Xin Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the interactions between the boundary layer and two successive incident shock waves in supersonic mixed-compression inlets. Experimental and analytical methods are used to study the turbulent boundary layer separation induced by single and dual shock waves. The study reveals different flow features and separation region shapes depending on the distance between the shock waves.

Momentum balance based model for predicting the scale of separation bubbles induced by incident shock wave/turbulent boundary layer interactions

Wen-Zhong Xie et al.

Summary: This study predicts shock wave/turbulent boundary layer interactions (SWTBLIs) using numerical methods and generates detailed flow field data. A model for predicting the scale of SWTBLI separation bubble is proposed based on momentum balance, and essential correlations for key physical quantities are provided. The experimental results confirm the accuracy of the model.

Scaling of interaction lengths for hypersonic shock wave/turbulent boundary layer interactions

Yuting Hong et al.

Summary: The study investigated the interaction length induced by Shock Wave/Turbulent Boundary-Layer Interactions (SWTBLIs) in hypersonic flow, identifying two scaling relationships based on different Reynolds numbers. This provides valuable guidelines for engineering prediction and enriches the knowledge of hypersonic SWTBLIs.

Scaling of hypersonic shock/turbulent boundary layer interactions

Clara M. Helm et al.

Summary: This paper examines a separation length scaling method for shock/turbulent boundary layer interactions, modifying existing methods to include heat transfer effects and evaluating it across a range of STBLI conditions. The results show a linear collapse of all incipiently separated STBLI data with the new generalized scaling method, while no collapse is observed for fully separated interactions.
