Synthesis of Fe3O4@activated carbon to treat metronidazole effluents by adsorption and heterogeneous Fenton with effluent bioassay

Nafiseh Sharifi et al.

Summary: In this study, Metronidazole (MNZ) was removed from wastewater using adsorption and heterogeneous Fenton processes with Fe3O4 magnetic-activated carbon (AC) nanocomposite (Fe3O4@AC). The results showed that Fe3O4@AC nanocomposite had a high efficiency in removing MNZ from both real and synthetic wastewater, and it significantly reduced the toxicity of the treated effluents.
