The shape distribution of superclusters in SDSS DR12

Satadru Bag et al.

Summary: In this study, the shape, topology, and morphology distributions of superclusters extracted from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 12 are investigated. The results show that most superclusters are spherical in shape, but those with volumes greater than or similar to 10(4) Mpc(3) are filamentary with non-zero genus values.

Probing early Universe through redshifted 21-cm signal: Modeling and observational challenges

Abinash Kumar Shaw et al.

Summary: Cosmic dawn and the epoch of reionization are crucial periods for studying the evolution of neutral hydrogen through the redshifted 21-cm radiation. This paper summarizes the collective efforts of Indian astronomers to understand the origin of the redshifted 21-cm signal, sources of ionizing photons, their propagation, cosmological effects, and statistical measures. The detection and analysis of the redshifted 21-cm signal are considered important objectives for the upcoming SKA-low telescope.

First Results from HERA Phase I: Upper Limits on the Epoch of Reionization 21 cm Power Spectrum

Zara Abdurashidova et al.

Summary: We report the upper limits of the Epoch of Reionization 21 cm power spectrum at redshifts 7.9 and 10.4 using data from Phase I of HERA. The results show evidence of systematics that can be suppressed with systematic models, providing upper limits on the power spectrum. These findings are a promising first step towards the development of an analysis pipeline for HERA.

Epoch of reionization parameter estimation with the 21-cm bispectrum

Catherine A. Watkinson et al.

Summary: This paper presents the first application of the isosceles bispectrum to MCMC parameter inference from the cosmic 21-cm signal. The study extends the MCMC sampler and uses the fast bispectrum code to compute the likelihood. The results show that using the isosceles bispectrum can substantially reduce the bias on the inferred parameter means and credible intervals in the reionization models.

Improving constraints on the reionization parameters using 21-cm bispectrum

Himanshu Tiwari et al.

Summary: Radio interferometric experiments aim to constrain the reionization model parameters. The bispectrum, as the lowest order statistic to capture non-Gaussianity, provides tighter constraints on the Epoch of Reionization (EoR) parameters compared to the power spectrum or limited shapes of k-triangles. Using all unique k-triangle bispectra can improve the constraints on parameters by a factor of 2 - 4 over using the power spectrum alone.

Observing the reionization: effect of calibration and position errors on realistic observation conditions

Aishrila Mazumder et al.

Summary: Observing the redshifted 21-cm signal from Cosmic Dawn and Epoch of Reionization poses challenges due to brighter astrophysical foregrounds and instrumental systematics. This study presents an end-to-end pipeline for dealing with synthetic interferometric data, analyzing calibration and position errors on the extraction of the redshifted 21-cm power spectrum. The simulations suggest that slight calibration error tolerance and minimal position errors are essential for detecting the cosmological signal amidst the foregrounds.

The Epoch of Reionization 21-cm bispectrum: the impact of light-cone effects and detectability

Rajesh Mondal et al.

Summary: We studied the spherically averaged bispectrum of the 21-cm signal from the Epoch of Reionization and found that the light-cone effect becomes significant on scales less than or similar to 0.1 Mpc(-1), where cosmic variance errors dominate for most triangle shapes. Only for squeezed limit triangles does the impact of the light-cone effect exceed cosmic variance.

Summary: In this study, the 21-cm signal bispectrum during the Cosmic Dawn is analyzed, revealing trends in magnitude and sign evolution with redshift that depend on the source model. Two consecutive sign reversals in the bispectrum are observed under certain circumstances, providing potential insights into the CD history. Additionally, the impact of spin temperature fluctuations and redshift space distortions on the bispectra are quantified for the first time, demonstrating significant effects on different stages of the CD.

Prospects of constraining reionization model parameters using Minkowski tensors and Betti numbers

Akanksha Kapahtia et al.

Summary: The study explores the possibility of constraining model parameters of the Epoch of Reionization (EoR) from 21cm brightness temperature maps. The results show that the average size and isotropy of structures in the field are important factors, and that noisy Tb maps need to be smoothed to recover the input model. The systematic behavior of the statistic as ionization progresses enables stringent constraints on the mean neutral hydrogen fraction, making these descriptors promising statistics for constraining EoR model parameters and the ionization history of the universe.

Measuring the topology of reionization with Betti numbers

Sambit K. Giri et al.

Summary: The study proposes measuring the 3D topology of ionized regions during the epoch of reionization using Betti numbers, which show characteristic evolution and can be fitted with simple analytical functions. The evolution of the Betti numbers is connected with the percolation of ionized and neutral regions, differing between reionization scenarios. Extracting topological information from mock 21-cm observations can constrain reionization models.

The Hi-halo mass relation at redshift z ∼ 1 from the Minkowski functionals of 21-cm intensity maps

Summary: This study investigates the possibility of constraining the HI-halo mass relation from intensity maps of the redshifted 21-cm line. Results from mock maps generated using Minkowski functionals show that measuring the HIHMR is achievable effectively in a single frequency channel. Combining results from different frequency channels can provide exquisite constraints on the evolution of the HIHMR, especially in the central frequency range of the data cube.
