An overview of thermotransport in fluorite-related ionic oxides

Leila Momenzadeh et al.

Summary: This overview summarizes the phenomenon of thermotransport in two fast ion conductors, showing that oxygen ions would drift to the hot side in a temperature gradient, and simulation results are in reasonable agreement with experimental data, suggesting significant effects of the coupling between mass and heat transport in oxygen ion electrolytes for practical applications.

Perovskite crystal symmetry and oxygen-ion transport: a molecular-dynamics study of perovskite

Elisabeth Robens et al.

Summary: In this study, molecular dynamics simulations were used to calculate oxygen diffusion coefficients in CaTiO3 with different crystal structures, revealing higher activation enthalpy for oxygen diffusion in the orthorhombic structure compared to the cubic structure. The presence of acceptor-type cation defects was found to negatively impact oxygen diffusion, especially in low-symmetry structures. The results provide insights into experimental transport studies, trends for alkaline-earth perovskites, and highlight the advantages of using MD simulations for studying ion migration in distorted perovskite structures.

Summary: LAMMPS, a classical molecular dynamics simulator released as an open source code in 2004, has gained popularity for its wide variety of particle interaction models, platform compatibility, and user control over simulation details. With contributions from numerous developers, it has grown from 50,000 lines of code to a million today, showcasing new capabilities like dynamic load balancing and quantum-accuracy machine learning interatomic potentials.

Recipes for superior ionic conductivities in thin-film ceria-based electrolytes

Dennis Kemp et al.

Summary: In this study, we used MD and MMC simulations to determine the oxide-ion mobility in Ce1-yGdyO2-y/2 materials and proposed an analytical model to interpret the results. The findings suggest that higher oxide-ion conductivity can be achieved through non-equilibrium deposition and nanoscale-thick samples.

Plasma Hsp90 levels in patients with systemic sclerosis and relation to lung and skin involvement: a cross-sectional and longitudinal study

Hana Storkanova et al.

Summary: According to the study, plasma levels of Hsp90 are increased in patients with systemic sclerosis compared to healthy controls, and are associated with increased inflammatory activity, worsened lung function, and extent of skin involvement in patients with diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis. In patients with systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease treated with cyclophosphamide, baseline Hsp90 levels can predict changes in DLCO over 12 months of therapy.

Nonlinear ion mobility at high electric field strengths in the perovskites SrTiO3 and CH3NH3PbI3

Dennis Kemp et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the electrochemical mobility of anions in perovskite structures through molecular dynamics simulations, revealing that mobility is independent of field at low values but becomes field-dependent at higher values. While the behavior of oxide-ion mobility in inorganic perovskites can be quantitatively predicted, the mobility of iodide ions in hybrid perovskites requires more complex models.

Phonons and lithium diffusion in LiAlO2

Mayanak K. Gupta et al.

Summary: Phonon and lithium diffusion in LiAlO2 are investigated using inelastic neutron scattering and ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. Phonon modes related to Li vibrations broaden with increasing temperature, and superionic diffusion is observed in different structures at high temperatures, facilitated by large librational amplitude of neighboring AlO4 tetrahedra.
