Intensification of potash ore flotation by the introduction of industrial oils

Elena Osipova et al.

Summary: The study found that adding industrial oils to the flotation system can achieve potassium chloride extraction at a level of 93.25-94.86%, which is 10.2-11.5% higher compared to using liquid paraffins. The optimal consumption of industrial oil under laboratory conditions was found to be 20-25 g t(-1) ore.

Flotation surface chemistry of water-soluble salt minerals: from experimental results to new perspectives

Kangkang Sun et al.

Summary: This article provides a comprehensive review of the flotation separation of water-soluble salt minerals, summarizing the agreement and disagreement between experimental results and theories. The results show that the flotation of salt is strongly influenced by collectors, brine ion composition, and pH conditions, and there are some exceptional results that cannot be explained by crystal surface charge and wettability. The authors suggest that the interactions between salt ions, water molecules, collectors, and salt crystals should be considered more thoroughly, with a focus on the activity of collectors at the air-liquid interface.

Intensification of the flotation separation of potash ore using ultrasound treatment

Lev O. Filippov et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of sonication on the selective flotation and separation between sylvite KCl and halite NaCl in saturated salt solutions, showing that sonication can significantly improve the recovery of KCl and reduce the recovery of NaCl. By establishing a balance between particle size, collector consumption, ultrasound treatment power, and sonication method, the separation between NaCl and KCl can be optimized.
