In-Plane Anisotropic Raman Spectroscopy of van der Waals α-MoO3

Muqian Wen et al.

Summary: The lattice vibrational properties of alpha-MoO3 were investigated using density functional theory and polarization-resolved Raman spectroscopy. Several Ag modes were observed which could be used for identifying the crystal orientation. The study demonstrated that modes with higher frequency have longer lifetimes, and phonon modes in bulk alpha-MoO3 have longer lifetimes than those in monolayer alpha-MoO3.

In-situ growth of few-layer graphene on ZnO with intimate interfacial contact for enhanced photocatalytic CO2 reduction activity

Libo Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a composite material was developed by in-situ deposition of few-layer graphene on the surface of ZnO, leading to enhanced photocatalytic CO2 reduction performance. The improvement was attributed to the intimate interfacial contact and Schottky junction between ZnO and graphene, as well as the photothermal effect of graphene and pi-pi conjugation interaction with CO2 molecules. This work not only provides a feasible method for the in-situ growth of graphene, but also presents an efficient photocatalyst for CO2 reduction.

Influence of Group III and IV Elements on the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction of MoS2 Disulfide

Shuang Chen et al.

Summary: The application of MoS2 as an electrocatalyst is limited by its intrinsic semiconductor behavior and the number of active sites, but doping and interlayer regulation are effective strategies to improve its properties. First-principles method study shows that interlayer doping strengthens interaction between MoS2 layers, promotes metallic behavior, and improves catalytic hydrogen evolution effect. Particularly, hydrogenated C-doped MoS2 exhibits the best catalytic hydrogen evolution effect due to weakened interaction between Mo and S caused by weak local hybridization of C-2p at the Fermi level.
