Effect of titanium dioxide on the structural, thermal, and electrical properties of chlorinated natural rubber/poly (indole) blend nanocomposites for flexible nanoelectronic devices

Krishnanivas Parvathi et al.

Summary: The effect of titanium dioxide (TiO2) on the performance of chlorinated natural rubber/polyindole (Cl-NR/PIN) blend nanocomposites was systematically studied. The successful incorporation of nanoparticles in the blend system was confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared spectra. UV analysis showed increased absorption spectra of the nanocomposite compared to the pure blend. The X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscope, and thermal analysis results demonstrated the presence of TiO2 nanostructure in the blend, uniform dispersion of TiO2, increased thermal stability, and improved conductivity and dielectric properties.

Tailoring the structural, electrical and thermal properties of zinc oxide reinforced chlorinated natural rubber/poly (indole) blend nanocomposites for flexible electrochemical devices

K. Parvathi et al.

Summary: Elastomer nanocomposites based on chlorinated natural rubber/polyindole blend with different loadings of zinc oxide nanoparticles were studied for their structural, morphological, thermal and electrical properties. The uniform dispersion of ZnO nanoparticles in the blend system was confirmed by UV-Vis spectra. Chemical interaction between ZnO and the blend was observed from additional band in the FT-IR spectra. The XRD, FE-SEM, and HR-TEM images confirmed the uniform dispersion of ZnO in the blend. The addition of ZnO improved the thermal stability, glass transition temperature, electrical conductivity, and tensile properties of the blend nanocomposites. The composites with 5 wt.% ZnO loading showed maximum dielectric constant and AC conductivity, suggesting optimal interfacial contact.

Summary: In this study, the dielectric constant (ε') of PVDF composites was improved by incorporating low-content Ag-rGO hybrid particles, with homogeneous dispersion achieved through a seed-mediated growing process. The high ε' observed in the composites was attributed to Maxwell-Wagner-Sillars interfacial polarization and the formation of a micro-capacitor sandwich structure between Ag-rGO and PVDF, with the best fit achieved through percolation theory adjusting the volume fraction of Ag-rGO.
