An integrated fuzzy MCDM approach for manufacturing process improvement in MSMEs

Song Xu et al.

Summary: To improve customer satisfaction and cope with global competition, MSMEs are striving to enhance their process capability, optimize resource utilization, and achieve cost effectiveness. The proposed framework integrates multicriteria decision making techniques with Quality Management Practices to identify and prioritize defects in the manufacturing line, addressing challenges faced by management in terms of a large number of defects, insufficient data, and dependency among criteria. The framework is exhibited through a real case study and provides decision support for improving manufacturing line performance in MSME firms.

Product eco-design practice in green supply chain management: a China-global examination of research

Jingjing Li et al.

Summary: This paper comprehensively reviews and critiques the product eco-design practice in green supply chain management studies, highlighting the differences between China and non-China countries. The findings show that China faces more barriers but has strengths in market demand, human resources, and culture, while non-China countries excel in eco-design tools and innovation. Stakeholders and environmental regulations play crucial roles in eco-design practice in all countries.

Pricing and advertising decisions in a direct-sales closed-loop supply chain

Mohammad Asghari et al.

Summary: This study focuses on pricing and advertising decisions in a closed-loop supply chain network. While pricing decisions have received significant attention, advertising decisions have been overlooked. The research develops an operational and tactical plan for promoting advertising programs considering different elasticity effects. The proposed optimization model considers pricing decisions in a comprehensive manner and introduces an improvement to the standard particle swarm optimization algorithm using crowd-learning theory. The findings show that the proposed metaheuristic outperforms alternative solution approaches in terms of computational time and solution quality. The research provides valuable insights for configuring pricing schemes and advertising campaigns to enhance the efficiency of closed-loop supply chains.

A circular reverse logistics framework for handling e-commerce returns

Pamal R. Nanayakkara et al.

Summary: Global e-commerce sales are adding complexities to supply chains, specifically with the increasing trend of product returns. This paper proposes a three-stage circular reverse logistics framework to optimize the reverse logistics network in e-commerce, with a focus on identifying return patterns, introducing circular economy networks, and using a mixed integer linear programming model.

Optimal extended warranty strategy: uniform or nonuniform pricing?

Bin Zheng et al.

Summary: This study found that when the manufacturer's cost efficiency of warranty is relatively high and/or the total warranty duration is relatively short, the flexible extended warranty (FEW) outperforms the traditional extended warranty (TEW). Interestingly, it is not always better off concealing the price difference information when selling FEW, which goes against intuition.

Balancing price and green quality in presence of consumer environmental awareness: a green supply chain coordination approach

Jafar Heydari et al.

Summary: This study addresses the green channel coordination problem in a two-echelon supply chain by introducing the HGRS contract, which leads to increased profits for both parties and customer satisfaction. The contract also enhances the product's green quality, reduces the selling price, and stimulates market demand.

Transferability of extended warranty in the presence of a P2P secondary market

Qi Zhang et al.

Summary: The study shows that the transferability of extended warranties is related to the manufacturer's optimal pricing decisions, with manufacturers more likely to offer transferable extended warranties when costs are low and non-transferable ones when costs are high. Additionally, manufacturers can use optional extended warranties to segment the market.

Operation strategy under additional service and refurbishing effort in online second-hand market

Man Xu et al.

Summary: This paper explores how different operation modes for second-hand goods recycling impact the profits of supply chain members, price-to-performance ratios for consumers, the environment, and social welfare. Game-theoretic models suggest that resale and sales-plus-service modes can yield the greatest profits for e-trading platform owners and second-hand product suppliers under certain conditions.
