A structural mathematical model on two echelon supply chain system

Shib Sankar Sana

Summary: This paper discusses the optimal green quality and sales prices in both decentralized and centralized two-echelon supply chain systems, as well as price competition of two substitute products where demand depends on price and quality of green product. The models aim to maximize profit functions of individual and integrated systems, considering factors such as procurement costs, selling prices, green quality development costs, and corporate social responsibility contributions. Mathematically analyzed and illustrated with numerical examples to demonstrate practical feasibility.

Environmental and economic sustainability through innovative green products by remanufacturing

Biswajit Sarkar et al.

Summary: The rapid advancement of technology requires the massive development of innovative green products to address global warming issues. This study focuses on considering the environmental risks associated with innovative green product manufacturing in an uncertain environment with insufficient information. Three models are developed based on different production strategies for two types of innovative green products. The models utilize a distribution-free approach to deal with random variables and introduce the concept of green innovation through remanufacturing to improve waste management. The findings suggest that highly green innovative products perform better under high uncertainties in demand and supply. Furthermore, new green products should only be introduced if their expected profit exceeds the loss of existing products. The policy innovation of remanufacturing is more cost-effective compared to traditional innovation policies. The models are solved with numerical examples and sensitivity analysis is performed to evaluate their robustness.

Evaluating the impact of carbon tax policy on manufacturing and remanufacturing decisions in a closed-loop supply chain

Ruiling Luo et al.

Summary: This paper develops four game-theoretic models to evaluate the impact of carbon tax policy on manufacturing and remanufacturing decisions in a closed-loop supply chain. The results show that carbon tax can effectively promote investment in carbon reduction technology and remanufacturing, but the design of the tax policy needs to be reasonable to avoid negative impact on remanufacturing. The centralized supply chain can achieve higher total profit, but its carbon emissions may be higher than the decentralized supply chain when carbon tax is low. Decisions in the decentralized supply chain are mainly based on the wholesale price between manufacturer and retailer, rather than the unit carbon saving of remanufactured products. Therefore, policymakers should tailor carbon tax policy designs to different industries and can promote low-carbon consumption and cultivate consumer preference for remanufactured products through taxes or subsidies.

Optimum buffer stock during preventive maintenance in an imperfect production system

Shib Sankar Sana

Summary: This paper investigates a production-inventory model that takes into account the transition of manufacturing system from in-control state to out-of-control state, the production of imperfect quality products in different states, and the after-sale warranty for any faults. By optimizing the buffer inventory, the expected costs per unit item can be minimized.

Rami fi cation of remanufacturing in a sustainable three-echelon closed-loop supply chain management for returnable products

Mehran Ullah et al.

Summary: Closed-loop supply chain management is a complex and highly uncertain research field that requires exploration of optimal remanufacturing strategies and packaging capacity planning by the corporate and academic worlds. The study findings suggest that a hybrid policy is the best option, and the remanufacturing rate is closely related to manufacturing costs and ordering costs.

Optimal remanufacturing decisions in supply chains considering consumers' anticipated regret and power structures

Feng Yang et al.

Summary: Empirical research shows that consumers have uncertain valuations for remanufactured products, leading to potential post-purchase regrets. Anticipated regret can impact decision making, but it doesn't always harm profits. It's beneficial for OEMs to remind consumers to consider AR, and paying attention to second-mover advantages is crucial.
