In this study synthesized nano-zeolite was evaluated for its potential use in CO2 capture via temperature swing adsorption. Adsorption equilibria of pure CO2 and mixtures containing 20% by volume CO2 and 80% by volume N-2 were determined in a temperature range of 20-50 degrees C and at pressure 0.1-1.5 atm. The identified adsorption capacity of CO2 by nano-zeolite was 4.81 mmol/g at a temperature of 20 degrees C and at pressure of 1 atm. In addition, the identified selectivity of CO2/N-2 onto nano-zeolite, calculated using ideal adsorbed solution theory (LAST), was 18.65 at 20 degrees C and 1 atm. From analysis of regeneration characteristics of CO2 loaded adsorbent, the percentage removal of CO2 was maintained at more than 88% even after 10 cycles of adsorption-desorption. Therefore, synthesized nano-zeolite with much improved CO2 adsorption capacity and a very high recyclability of CO2 loaded adsorbent can be used as an effective and economical adsorbent for CO2 capture.
