Unveiling the relationship between structural and polarization effects on the first hyperpolarizability of a merocyanine dye

Ysmailyn Siqueira et al.

Summary: The nonlinear optical response of Brooker's merocyanine has been studied and rationalized in terms of structural changes and polarization effects. The results showed that structural changes have a significant impact on the response, while polarization effects only cause slight variations. The study also revealed cooperative behavior of these effects at weak and intermediate electric field strengths, and competition between them at strong electric fields.

In Situ Monitoring of Optical Constants, Conductivity, and Swelling of PEDOT:PSS from Doped to the Fully Neutral State

Carsten Dingler et al.

Summary: This study provides insights into the evolution of optical constants, conductivity, and swelling properties of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)/poly(styrenesulfonate) films in an acetonitrile-based electrolyte as a function of doping level. The comprehensive spectroelectrochemical study reveals that the films are optically and electronically anisotropic, with the optical constants strongly varying with applied potential. The films also exhibit a plateau conductivity over large potential ranges and remarkable swelling behavior.
