PRDX3 promotes resistance to cisplatin in gastric cancer cells

Hao Yan et al.

Summary: This study found that PRDX3 is overexpressed in gastric cancer tissue and increases the resistance of gastric cancer cells to cisplatin by reducing apoptosis.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Identification of Novel Autoantibodies Based on the Human Proteomic Chips and Evaluation of Their Performance in the Detection of Gastric Cancer

Chi Cui et al.

Summary: Autoantibodies against tumor-associated antigens are potential biomarkers for cancer detection. A proteomic chip approach identified 11 candidate tumor-associated antigens for gastric cancer, and a diagnostic model based on anti-NRAS, anti-MFGE8, anti-PTP4A1, and anti-RRAS2 autoantibodies showed optimal performance in distinguishing gastric cancer cases from healthy controls. This approach is effective in cancer detection and can aid in accurate diagnosis.

Mitotic checkpoint regulator RAE1 promotes tumor growth in colorectal cancer

Yuta Kobayashi et al.

Summary: A novel gene RAE1 was identified as a promoter of tumor growth, associated with poor prognosis in CRC, possibly through inhibiting apoptosis and promoting cell cycle progression. This gene could be a potential therapeutic target to overcome therapeutic resistance in CRC.

EphA2-YES1-ANXA2 pathway promotes gastric cancer progression and metastasis

Linfeng Mao et al.

Summary: EphA2, YES1, and ANXA2 form a signaling axis that promotes gastric cancer invasion and metastasis. Overexpression of YES1 increases invasion and migration of gastric cancer cells, while knockdown of ANXA2 decreases these processes.
