Characteristics of hydrocarbon migration and accumulation in the Lower Jurassic reservoirs in the Tugerming area of the eastern Kuqa Depression, Tarim Basin

Jialin Wan et al.

Summary: The complex hydrocarbon migration and accumulation process in the Kuqa Depression have been studied with a focus on the Tugerming area in recent years. Two categories of hydrocarbon accumulation mechanisms have been identified, providing insights into the potential for oil and gas exploration in the Lower Jurassic reservoirs in the Tugerming area. This research contributes to the understanding of hydrocarbon reservoir formation potential in similar basins with comparable tectonic settings.

Reservoir Characteristics of Tight Sandstone and Sweet Spot Prediction of Dibei Gas Field in Eastern Kuqa Depression, Northwest China

Guangjie Zhao et al.

Summary: Great progress has been made in the exploration of tight sandstone gas resources in Kuqa depression, particularly in the Dibei structural belt. The physical properties, controlling factors, and characteristics of the tight sandstone in the Dibei gas reservoir are analyzed. The study reveals the formation mode of the reservoir and predicts the favorable area for gas reservoirs.

A NEW REGIONAL PETROLEUM SYSTEMS MODEL FOR CENTRAL ITALY AND THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC SEA SUPPORTED BY BASIN MODELLING AND AN ANALYSIS OF HYDROCARBON OCCURRENCES

Lorenzo Lipparini et al.

Summary: The petroleum system in Central Italy and the Adriatic Sea is of great interest for future hydrocarbon exploration, but major uncertainties remain. The study suggests that the Upper Triassic Burano Formation may be the most likely active source rock in certain geological domains, and lateral migration is suggested to have occurred for oil accumulations. The results may support ongoing and future exploration efforts in the study area and elsewhere in the Mediterranean region.

Structural restoration and basin modelling of the central apennine orogen/foredeep/foreland system: New insights on the regional petroleum system

Andrea D'Ambrosio et al.

Summary: Basin modelling was applied to study the Central Apennine orogen and Central Adriatic foredeep/foreland system, revealing the thick-skin model as the most suitable for explaining known hydrocarbon occurrences. The study also highlighted lateral hydrocarbon migration as a key process for known hydrocarbon accumulation in the area.
