Effects of physical activity interventions using wearables to improve objectively-measured and patient-reported outcomes in adults following orthopaedic surgical procedures: A systematic review

Hiral Master et al.

Summary: This study synthesized the evidence on physical activity interventions using wearables in adults following orthopaedic surgical procedures. The findings suggest that using wearables for in-person or remote interventions may increase steps per day after joint arthroplasty, but further research is needed to determine the therapeutic effects in other orthopaedic surgical procedures.

Sex differences in perceived expectations of the outcome of total hip and knee arthroplasties and their fulfillment: an observational cohort study

Daisy A. J. M. Latijnhouwers et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of sex on preoperative expectations and their fulfillment following total hip and knee arthroplasty. The results showed that men had higher preoperative expectations and fulfillment, especially on items related to functional activities.

Trajectories of pain and function in the first five years after total hip and knee arthroplasty AN ANALYSIS OF PATIENT REPORTED OUTCOME DATA FROM THE NATIONAL JOINT REGISTRY

J. R. Dainty et al.

Summary: This study investigated the trajectories of patient reported pain and functional disability over five years following total hip arthroplasty (THA) or total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The results showed that patient-reported outcome measures at six months postoperatively reliably predicted the class of five-year outcome trajectory for both pain and function. Baseline patient variables were weak predictors of pain trajectory and modest predictors of function trajectory.

Can the minimal clinically important difference be determined in a French-speaking population with primary hip replacement using one PROM item and the Anchor strategy?

Sophie Putman et al.

Summary: The study investigated the MCID scores in a French population undergoing THR and found them comparable to data from the international literature. It was also concluded that using a general item as an anchor for defining improvement is feasible.
