Toward the Copolymerization of Propylene with Polar Comonomers

Stephen L. J. Luckham et al.

Summary: Polyolefins, including polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), are widely used in consumer products and can be enhanced by forming composites with other materials. To improve their compatibility with other materials, the inclusion of polar functionalities in the polymer chain is essential. Different transition metal catalysts have varying effects on achieving this goal, with late transition metal catalysts being more suitable for reactions with polar comonomers.

Effect of EVA copolymer containing different VA content on the thermal and rheological properties of bio-based high-density polyethylene/ethylene vinyl acetate blends

Giselly M. G. Farias et al.

Summary: The concentration of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and the vinyl acetate (VA) content in EVA have significant effects on the properties of bio-based high-density polyethylene (BioPE)/EVA blends. Increasing EVA concentration decreases the crystallinity of BioPE, while blends with higher VA content exhibit higher impact strength.

Improving Mechanical Properties of PLA/Starch Blends Using Masterbatch Containing Vegetable Oil Based Active Ingredients

Bianka Nagy et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to improve the compatibility between PLA and starch using vegetable oil-based additives. The results showed that the mechanical properties of the blends were enhanced, especially the Charpy impact strength and elongation at break, with the use of these additives.SEM images confirmed the improved compatibility between the components.
