Enhancement of mechanical properties of styrene-butadiene rubber composites by carbon black/silicone carbide hybrid filler networking

Nafise Torbati-Fard et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of silicon carbide (SiC) nanoparticles as a secondary filler on filler networking in carbon black (CB)/SiC hybrid filled styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR). The results showed that there was a critical loading of SiC in the low-loading range, which improved the dispersion state in the hybrid composite. The surface energy mismatch between CB and SiC decreased the kinetics and extent of filler networking in the SBR matrix.
