Electrospun Polycaprolactone (PCL) Degradation: An In Vitro and In Vivo Study

Juliana R. Dias et al.

Summary: PCL is widely used in tissue engineering due to its unique properties. PCL electrospun fiber meshes are expected to have a fast degradation rate. In vitro and in vivo studies showed that lipase can promote the degradation rate of PCL meshes up to 97% in a static medium, while the degradation rate was slower in vivo but the samples were well-integrated with the surrounding tissues.

Microstructure and Biological Properties of Electrospun In Situ Polymerization of Polycaprolactone-Graft-Polyacrylic Acid Nanofibers and Its Composite Nanofiber Dressings

Yi-Jen Huang et al.

Summary: By adding AA to PCL electrospun nanofibers, their hydrophilicity can be improved. The PCL/AA ratio of 80/20 exhibited the best composition with smooth nanofiber morphology. Incorporating poly[2 -(tert-butylaminoethyl) methacrylate]-grafted graphene oxide nanosheets (GO-g-PTA) as an antimicrobial filler into PCL-g-PAA nanofibers showed synergistic effects in terms of antibacterial properties and fluid absorption, promoting wound healing.
