Study of interface reaction in a B4C/Cr mirror at elevated temperature using soft X-ray reflectivity

Mohammed H. Modi et al.

Summary: A study conducted on boron carbide reveals significant changes in the buried interface region between the Cr adhesive layer and the native oxide layer on the silicon substrate at 550 degrees Celsius. It was found that at higher temperatures, chromium reacts with the oxide layer to form chromium oxysilicide.

Effect of B4C barrier layer on layer intermixing in nanoscale W/Be multilayers before and after annealing

Sergei S. Sakhonenkov et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the effect of an ultrathin B4C barrier layer on the content of beryllides formed in W/Be multilayers during deposition. The results show that the insertion of the B4C barrier layer decreases the content of beryllides and increases the reflectivity of the multilayers. However, annealing at high temperatures decreases the reflectivity due to the formation of BeO on the surface.

Chemical Modification of B4C Films and B4C/Pd Layers Stored in Different Environments

Yufei Feng et al.

Summary: This study investigated the chemical modification of B4C films and B4C/Pd double layers in different environments, revealing that placing B4C/Pd layers in a dry oxygen-rich environment led to a significant decrease in B-C bonds and an increase in B-O bonds. It was concluded that the combination of palladium catalysis and high oxygen content in the environment promoted the oxidation of boron, deteriorating the composition of B4C.

Effect of annealing on the interface formation in Mo/Be multilayer structures without/with a barrier layer

Aidar U. Gaisin et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the formation of an interface region in multilayer Mo/Be structures under different annealing conditions, as well as the impact of barrier layers on their thermal stability. The introduction of barrier layers can restrict the formation of metal intermetallic compounds and weaken interlayer diffusion, which has a positive effect on the stability of the system.
