Gengxin Chen et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates an ultra-large bandwidth electro-optic modulator based on the thin-film lithium niobate platform, which does not compromise the driving voltage and exhibits low loss and high bandwidth. High-speed hyperspectral imaging of ferroelectric domain walls using broadband coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering

Sven Reitzig et al.

Summary: This work introduces broadband coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (B-CARS) as a high-speed alternative to conventional Raman techniques and demonstrates its benefits for ferroelectric domain wall analysis. By comparing the spectral output of B-CARS and SR, extracting signal components, and proposing a mechanism for domain wall signal strength, this study lays the foundation for future investigations on poled ferroelectric crystals using B-CARS.

Nonlinear optical interactions in focused beams and nanosized structures

Zeeshan H. Amber et al.

Summary: Thin-film materials and 2D materials are significant in electronic and optical applications, and nonlinear optical spectroscopy provides insights into their properties. Thin-film interference and phase matching affect the signal strength, and there are differences between different photon processes. A semi-analytical model accurately describes experimental results at a lower computational cost.

Turn all the lights off: Bright- and dark-field second-harmonic microscopy to select contrast mechanisms for ferroelectric domain walls

Peter A. Hegarty et al.

Summary: Recent analyses using polarization resolved second-harmonic microscopy have revealed the characteristics and topology of ferroelectric domain walls. However, careful interpretation and separation of various contributing factors are necessary due to the complex effects observed in the microscopy. This study demonstrates a method to selectively block the strong Cerenkov-type contrast and reveals other contrast mechanisms that were previously hidden.

Quantifying the coherent interaction length of second-harmonic microscopy in lithium niobate confined nanostructures

Zeeshan H. Amber et al.

Summary: Thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) on insulator in x- or z-cut form has shown potential for integrated optoelectronic devices, with optical second-harmonic generation (SHG) microscopy providing insights into its structural properties. SHG in TFLN is influenced by interfacial reflections and resonant enhancements, with the dominant SHG contribution being the co-propagating phase-matched signal. The coherent interaction length lc depends on the incident laser wavelength and numerical aperture of the focusing objective.
