Mycetoindole, an N-acyl dehydrotryptophan with plant growth inhibitory activity from an actinomycete of the genus Actinomycetospora

Shun Saito et al.

Summary: A rare actinomycetal strain was found to produce a new tryptophan derivative named mycetoindole. The structure of mycetoindole was determined to be N-3-methylcrotonoyl (Z)-dehydrotryptophan by NMR and MS analysis. Mycetoindole was shown to inhibit root growth of lettuce seedlings and seed germination in a concentration-dependent manner.

Catellatolactams A-C, Plant Growth-Promoting Ansamacrolactams from a Rare Actinomycete of the Genus Catellatospora

Chang Liu et al.

Summary: Three novel ansamycin-lactam derivatives, Catellatolactams A-C (1-3), were isolated from the culture extract of a rare actinomycete of the genus Catellatospora. The structure of compound 1 was determined to be a lactamized pentaketide extended on a 3-amino-5-hydroxybenzoic acid starter unit. Compounds 2 and 3 underwent further reactions to incorporate a 2-indolinone unit and promoted root elongation of germinated lettuce seeds.

Plant growth-promoting and antimicrobial chloropyrroles from a rare actinomycete of the genus Catellatospora

Chang Liu et al.

Summary: Two new chloropyrroles, catellatopyrroles A and B, along with 2-(2'-hydroxybenzoyl)pyrrole, were isolated from an actinomycete culture extract. The structures of these compounds were determined using NMR and MS data. The chloropyrroles showed promoting effects on root elongation of germinated lettuce seeds, exhibited antimicrobial activity against certain bacteria and yeast, and demonstrated moderate cytotoxicity against P388 cells.

Enjuro Harunari et al.

Summary: A bisprenyl naphthoquinone (1) and a calcimycin congener with unusual modifications (2) were isolated from Phytohabitans sp. RD003013. Compound 1 exhibited an unprecedented prenylation pattern, while compound 2 represented a new modification pattern in the known calcimycin family natural products. Interestingly, compound 2 showed moderate antimicrobial activity against Ralstonia solanacearum and inhibited the migration of EC17 cancer cells at noncytotoxic concentrations.

Shun Saito et al.

Summary: A genome mining survey and metabolome analysis identified Couchioplanes sp. RD010705 as a producer of new metabolites, resulting in the isolation of five new compounds. Compound 4 was found to have an enantiomer ratio of approximately SIR = 56:44, and all compounds showed weak inhibitory effects against Kocuria rhizophila without cytotoxicity to P388 cells at a concentration of 100 μg/mL.
