Magnetic order and magnetic properties of the oxygen deficient SmBaMn2O5 layered perovskite

J. Blasco et al.

Summary: The magnetism of SmBaMn2O5 was studied using magnetic and neutron diffraction measurements on a single crystal. The compound has an oxygen deficient perovskite structure with a layered ordering of Sm and Ba cations. The Mn atoms are arranged in a checkerboard pattern in the ab-plane, forming expanded-compressed pyramids. Below 134 K, the Mn moments exhibit ferrimagnetic ordering, while the Sm moments begin to polarize around 10 K in the ab-plane.

Temperature-Controlled Crystal Size of Wide Band Gap Nickel Oxide and Its Application in Electrochromism

Muyang Shi et al.

Summary: The annealing temperature affects the crystallinity and optical properties of NiO films, with an increase in crystallite size leading to a decrease in optical characteristics. The NiO film treated at 300 degrees Celsius exhibited optimal electrochromic behavior.

Making ferromagnetic metal MnSi ultrathin films semiconductor

De-Yong Wang et al.

Summary: The research discovered that decreasing the thickness of MnSi ultrathin films to below 6 ML causes a metal-semiconductor transition and shows weak anti-localization in two-dimensional electron systems. This not only advances our understanding of the transition mechanism but also provides a new strategy for using ferromagnetic semiconductor in spintronic devices.
