Discontinuous precipitation in a Cu-10Ni-1Si alloy with ultra-high strength, high shock absorption, and good stress relaxation resistance

Jianhui Kang et al.

Summary: The study investigates the discontinuous precipitation in a Cu-10Ni-1Si alloy aged at 500 degrees C and 550 degrees C, aiming to identify the types of precipitates and their crystal relationships with the matrix. Continuous delta-Ni2Si precipitates are initially detected, followed by the simultaneous detection of discontinuous beta-Ni3Si and continuous delta-Ni2Si precipitates. The crystal relationship between discontinuous beta-Ni3Si precipitates and the copper matrix is found to be (111)Cu//(111)beta, [011]Cu//[011]beta in the early aging stage. The lamellar discontinuous beta-Ni3Si precipitates significantly improve stress relaxation resistance and damping properties, attributed to the interaction between the lamellar structure and dislocation motion. These findings indicate that the formation of lamellar discontinuous precipitates hinders dislocation slip and promotes precipitation, leading to enhanced mechanical and conductivity properties.

The comprehensive performance and strengthening mechanism of the columnar crystal Cu-Ni-Si alloy after two large deformation rates of cryogenic rolling-aging

Wanneng Liao et al.

Summary: To enhance the strength and electrical conductivity of Cu-Ni-Si alloy, two deep cryogenic rolling-aging treatments were applied to columnar crystalline C70250 copper alloy strips. The relationship between the cryogenic rolling-aging process, microscopic structure, mechanical properties, and electrical conductivity was investigated, along with the precipitation behavior. The research findings revealed that the alloy achieved a fibrous tissue structure containing high-density dislocations and multi-scale precipitates, resulting in a yield strength of 879 MPa, tensile strength of 923 MPa, and electrical conductivity of 38.7% IACS. The combination of strength and electrical conductivity was excellent.

Microstructure and mechanical properties of Cu-Ni-Si alloy plate produced by HCCM horizontal continuous casting

Qianru Yang et al.

Summary: C70250 alloy plates with different grain morphologies and precipitate contents were produced by horizontal continuous casting. The mechanical properties of the alloy were influenced by the microstructure, with equiaxed grain plates showing the best performance and columnar grain plates exhibiting better plasticity.

Simultaneously enhanced hardness and electrical conductivity in a Cu-Ni-Si alloy by addition of Cobalt

Feng Liu et al.

Summary: The addition of Co in Cu-Ni-Si alloy accelerates the redistribution and agglomeration of solute atoms, resulting in the nucleation of (Ni, Co)(2)Si phases directly from the supersaturated state, which further hinders atomic cluster formation and spinodal decomposition. This remarkable age effect with Co addition can be attributed to the enhanced number of (Ni, Co)(2)Si precipitates, which simultaneously increases the strength and electrical conductivity.
