Laser-Induced fluorinated graphene for superhydrophobic surfaces with anisotropic wetting and switchable adhesion

Ki-Ho Nam et al.

Summary: This paper presents a direct-write method for patterning fluorine-doped nanocarbons on molecularly engineered polymers, resulting in superhydrophobic and parahydrophobic surfaces. The method allows control over morphology and chemical composition, leading to surfaces with high water contact angles. The study also demonstrates strain-induced switchable adhesion and the ability to transfer droplets without any loss or contamination. The approach provides new insights for designing interfaces for droplet manipulation and localized control of reactions.

Novel fluorine-doped cobalt molybdate nanosheets with enriched oxygen-vacancies for improved oxygen evolution reaction activity

Weiwei Xie et al.

Summary: In this study, fluorine-doped cobalt molybdate nanosheet arrays were synthesized on graphite felt to enhance the kinetics of the oxygen evolution reaction. The F-CoMoO4 electrocatalyst showed improved OER performance due to the induction of oxygen vacancies and optimization of the electronic configuration of CoMoO4. The DFT results revealed that the change in Mo 4d state led to a decrease in band-gap and an increase in electrical conductivity, thereby optimizing the intrinsic activity of CoMoO4. The synthesis strategy employed in this work may offer insights for enhancing the electrical conductivity of other transition metal oxides.

Interconnected 3D fluorinated graphene host enables an ultrastable lithium metal anode

Qi Shan et al.

Summary: In this study, an interconnected 3D fluorinated graphene frame was designed as the host for a composite lithium metal anode, leading to significant improvement in its cycling performance. The uniform fluorination of graphene created a continuous lithophilic interface and a porous structure, while the formation of a LiF-rich solid electrolyte interface film suppressed the formation of dead Li. As a result, the modified anode exhibited excellent electrochemical performance.
