Optimum Water Content Estimation for Wet Granulation of Iron Ore Powders with Quicklime Binder

Shota Yokokawa et al.

Summary: Wet granulation is important in processing fine ore powder, and water content is a critical parameter for determining the granule properties. However, in the ironmaking industry, the consistency of the physicochemical properties of the raw powders makes it difficult to determine the optimum water content. This study presents a method to determine the optimum water content using agitation torque.

Comparisons of iron ore granulation and sintering performance between horizontal high-shear granulators and drum granulators

Yang You et al.

Summary: This study investigated the granulation and sintering of iron ore using a novel horizontal high-shear granulator and a traditional drum granulator. The results showed that the shear granulator produced granules with better uniformity and mechanical strength, and exhibited superior sintering indicators compared to the drum granulator.

Challenges and opportunities in modelling wet granulation in pharmaceutical industry-A critical review

Mehakpreet Singh et al.

Summary: Wet granulation is a crucial step in the manufacturing of solid-dosage forms in the pharmaceutical industry. Modelling wet granulation plays a vital role in shifting from batch mode to continuous production and implementing the Quality-by-Design approach. Three major models, including population balance model, discrete element method, and data-driven models, are evaluated in this review. Each approach has its advantages and can provide insights into different aspects of wet granulation. However, further research is needed to improve the accuracy and applicability of these models.

Effects of process parameters on the growth behavior and granule size distribution of iron ore mixtures in a novel high-shear granulator

Yang You et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel horizontal high-shear granulator for iron ore granulation. The effects of operation conditions such as water content, initial particle size distribution, and the concentrate ratio on granulation behavior were analyzed. The results show that water content, nuclei particle ratio, and concentrate ratio have significant impacts on granulation performance.

Determining Optimum Water Content for Iron Ore Granulation using Agitation Torque of Wet Ore Powder

Tomotaka Otsu et al.

Summary: This study proposes a methodology for determining the optimum water content of various iron ore powders using the agitation torque of wet ore powders. It was found that the optimum water content corresponded to the water content exhibiting the maximum agitation torque, regardless of the original powder. The saturation degree at the optimum water content was calculated, suggesting that the state between the funicular and capillary states is suitable for the wet granulation of ore powders.

Yanan Lu et al.

Summary: The composite agglomeration process for treating vanadium-titanium magnetite improves sinter quality and quantity indices while optimizing melting and dripping properties. The optimal pelletized feed proportion, feed size, and feed basicity are found to be 15%, 5 to 8mm, and 0.9, respectively.

Effect of coating structure of granulated quasi-fuel particles in iron ore sintering

Zhenya Lai et al.

Summary: The study shows that pregranulation is an effective method in the sintering industry, which can alleviate the deterioration of sinter quality, increase sinter yield, and productivity. Substituting coke with biomass char for combustion can decrease the content of calcium ferrite in sinter and increase sinter porosity, while pregranulation has the opposite effect, leading to an improvement in sinter quality.

Effect of Ti-V Magnetite Concentrate Pellet on the Strength of Green Pellets and the Quality of Sinter by Composite Agglomeration Process (CAP)

Yanan Lu et al.

Summary: The composite agglomeration process is an effective method for producing blast furnace burden with vanadium-titanium magnetite. Increasing the basicity of flux green pellets enhances pellet strength and sinter yield. Adding coke powder to carbon-containing green pellets should be limited to around 0.4% to avoid perforated or molten pellets during sintering.

Efficient Preparation of Blast Furnace Burdens from Titanomagnetite Concentrate by Composite Agglomeration Process

Tao Jiang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the agglomeration of titanomagnetite concentrate using the composite agglomeration process (CAP) and found that CAP resulted in higher yield and better product quality compared to the traditional sintering process. The improved properties were attributed to the formation of calcium ferrite and silicoferrite of calcium and aluminum group minerals in CAP, which helped overcome the negative effects of perovskite on agglomeration.
