Comparative study of g-C3N4/Ag-based metals (V, Mo, and Fe) composites for degradation of Reactive Black 5 (RB5) under simulated solar light irradiation

Noor Izzati Md Rosli et al.

Summary: In this study, a comparative investigation on the heterojunction formation between g-C3N4 and Ag-based metal oxides (Ag4V2O7, AgFeO2 and Ag2Mo2O7) catalysts was conducted for the degradation of RB5. The g-C3N4/Ag2Mo2O7 catalyst exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity and demonstrated improved optical properties, charge carrier separation and charge transport. The photocatalytic degradation of RB5 followed the trend: g-C3N4/Ag2Mo2O7 > g-C3N4/Ag4V2O7 > g-C3N4/AgFeO2 > g-C3N4. The g-C3N4/Ag2Mo2O7 catalyst also showed promising reusability without significant loss of photoactivity.

Effects of the surface of solar-light photocatalytic activity of Ag-doped TiO2 nanohybrid material prepared with a novel approach

G. Nagaraj et al.

Summary: Surface modification with silver nanoparticles as an additive into titanium dioxide nanoparticles has been shown to enhance visible-light photodegradation efficiency, with the Ag-doped TiO2 nanohybrid prepared using a photon-induced method. The XRD analysis revealed a mixed phase of anatase and rutile in Ag-doped TiO2, compared to rutile-only phase in pure TiO2-NPs. UV-Vis absorption spectra indicated a reduction in energy bandgap and improved morphology of TiO2 after Ag doping, leading to a significant improvement in photocatalytic activity.
