Advanced Reconstruction of Vesicourethral Support May Improve Urinary Continence and Quality of Life After Non-nerve-sparing Robot-assisted Radical Prostatectomy

Summary: In a study, membranous urethral length and augmented-rectus-vesica-urethral-suspension (ARVUS) were found to be significant factors in achieving 0 pads and low ICIQ-SF scores after 12 months postoperatively. The study concluded that ARVUS is an effective surgical procedure for improving urinary symptoms and quality of life in nonnerve-sparing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP).

Novel cystography parameter to predict early recovery from urinary continence after radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer: a retrospective study

Summary: The study found that the vesicourethral angle and BNAP ratio were independent predictors of early recovery from postprostatectomy incontinence. It is suggested that both the sagittal and coronal views of postoperative cystography help anticipate early continence restoration after robot-assisted RP.

Retzius Sparing Radical Prostatectomy Versus Robot-assisted Radical Prostatectomy: Which Technique Is More Beneficial for Prostate Cancer Patients (MASTER Study)? A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Summary: This systematic review evaluated the effectiveness of Retzius sparing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RS-RARP) compared to standard robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) in terms of perioperative, functional, and oncological outcomes. The results showed that RS-RARP had a significant advantage in immediate urinary continence recovery, although higher positive surgical margin rates were observed. Erectile function preservation and overall postoperative complication rates were similar between the two techniques.

Retzius-sparing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy: early learning curve experience in three continents

Summary: This study aimed to assess the impact of surgical experience on peri-operative, functional and oncological outcomes in the first 50 cases of Retzius-sparing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy performed by surgeons new to this approach. The results showed that console time, immediate urinary continence recovery, and postoperative complications were optimal in the expert group compared to the initial group, while positive surgical margin rates did not significantly improve.
