Exposure to environmental air pollutants as a risk factor for primary Sjogren's syndrome

Kevin Sheng-Kai Ma et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between exposure to air pollutants and the risk of primary Sjogren's syndrome (pSS). The results showed that exposure to carbon monoxide (CO), nitric oxide (NO), and methane (CH4) was associated with a higher risk of pSS. This association was observed in both male and female individuals, and the risk increased with higher levels of exposure to these pollutants.

Dental caries and risk of newly-onset systemic lupus erythematosus: a nationwide population-based cohort study

Wuu-Tsun Perng et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between dental caries and the risk of newly-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The results showed that patients with dental caries had a significantly higher risk of developing SLE compared to those without carious teeth. There was a dose-dependent relationship between caries and the risk of SLE, and the choice of restorative materials did not significantly affect the risk of SLE.
