Summary: The study investigates the effects of using hybrid nanofluid and number of plates on the performance of plate heat exchangers. Results showed using both nanofluids increased the thermal performance of all tested exchangers, with the TiO2-Al2O3/water hybrid nanofluid leading to higher improvements compared to the TiO2/water single type nanofluid. Increasing the number of plates in the heat exchanger resulted in more increment by using both types of nanofluids.

CFD simulation of thermal performance of hybrid oil-Cu-Al2O3 nanofluid flowing through the porous receiver tube inside a finned parabolic trough solar collector

Saman Samiezadeh et al.

Summary: Numerical simulations in this study showed that increasing the volume fraction of Cu nanoparticles can enhance the temperature gain at the exit of the receiver tube within certain Reynolds numbers. Additionally, increasing the volume fraction of Cu and Al2O3 nanoparticles can improve thermal efficiency with slight adverse effects on the friction factor. Moreover, higher permeability has minimal impact on thermal efficiency but can significantly reduce the friction factor.

Thermal performance enhancement of nanofluids based parabolic trough solar collector (NPTSC) for sustainable environment

M. Farooq et al.

Summary: Due to rapid industrialization and urbanization, the increase in carbon emissions in the atmosphere and the depletion of fossil fuel and gas reserves have led to the search for alternative renewable energy resources. Solar energy is considered as one of the most promising sources. This study analyzes the effect of multiple working fluids on the efficiency of parabolic trough solar collectors (PTCs) using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis. Two types of nanofluids, Alumina and Copper-oxide, are used to evaluate the thermal efficiency of PTC through CFD simulations. The study also investigates the impact of absorber tube material and receiver tube length on the working fluid's temperature. The results suggest that nanofluids-based PTCs system shows promise for sustainable environmental applications.
