AutoEncoder Filter Bank Common Spatial Patterns to Decode Motor Imagery From EEG

Nadia Mammone et al.

Summary: The present paper introduces a novel method, AE-FBCSP, for decoding imagined movements from EEG. AE-FBCSP is an extension of FBCSP and utilizes global and subject-specific transfer learning approaches. The method extracts features from high-density EEG using FBCSP and trains a custom AE to project the features into a compressed latent space. A supervised classifier is then trained using the latent features to decode the imagined movement. The proposed method outperformed standard FBCSP and achieved high accuracy in multi-class classification tasks.
