Anaerobic bacteria mediated 'smart missile' targeting tumor hypoxic area enhances the therapeutic outcome of lung cancer

Yue Li et al.

Summary: Tumor hypoxia negatively affects the clinical treatment of lung cancer. This study proposes a novel drug delivery strategy by implanting anaerobic Bifidobacterium infantis as a preimplanted target and using bacterial antibody decorated nano-drug missiles to enrich therapeutic drugs in the tumor hypoxic area. The study confirms the excellent anti-tumor effect of this strategy, with reduced systemic side effects. This work provides an elegant platform for in vivo delivery of chemotherapeutic drugs to the hypoxic area of solid tumors.
