Genetic and Biochemical Characterizations of aLhr1 Helicase in the Thermophilic Crenarchaeon Sulfolobus acidocaldarius

Shoji Suzuki et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel helicase involved in homologous recombination (HR) was identified in the thermophilic crenarchaeon Sulfolobus acidocaldarius. The helicase, encoded by Saci_0814, was found to dissociate a synthetic Holliday junction (HJ). Combined genetic and biochemical evidence suggests that this helicase, classified as aLhr1, is involved in HR and may function as a branch migration helicase in S. acidocaldarius.

DNA Polymerase B1 Binding Protein 1 Is Important for DNA Repair by Holoenzyme PolB1 in the Extremely Thermophilic Crenarchaeon Sulfolobus acidocaldarius

Hiroka Miyabayashi et al.

Summary: The subunits PBP1 and PBP2 greatly influence the activity of DNA polymerase PolB1, with PBP1 deletion leading to sensitivity to various types of DNA damage and increased mutation rate, while PBP2 is crucial for the replication process.
