Electrical role of sulfur vacancies in MoS2: Transient current approach

Juchan Lee et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effect of sulfur vacancies on the electrical properties of MoS2. After generating sulfur vacancies through treatment with hydrazine, the density of shallow traps increased by a factor of 4, whereas that of deep-level traps increased by a factor of 200. These results indicate that sulfur vacancies induce both deep- and shallow-level traps, with a higher trap density at the deep level.

WS2 and WS2-ZnO Chemiresistive Gas Sensors: The Role of Analyte Charge Asymmetry and Molecular Size

Farman Ullah et al.

Summary: We investigated the interaction between various analytes and a laser-exfoliated WS2 sensing material in a chemiresistive sensor. The response of the sensor was greatly enhanced by modifying the WS2 surface with WS2-ZnO heterojunctions. Water and ethanol produced a much higher response compared to acetone and toluene, and the charge asymmetry points in the analyte molecules played a key role in determining the sensor response. Our study provides valuable insights for advancing semiconductor gas sensors based on two-dimensional materials.

B/C-doped MoS2 as promising materials for nitrogen removal from natural gas: A first-principles computational study

Shuang Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, the effects of doping on the adsorption of N-2 and CH4 on monolayer MoS2 were investigated using density functional theory. The results showed that doping B or C can significantly enhance the interaction between N-2 and MoS2, providing valuable information for the efficient removal of N-2 from natural gas.

Summary: Gas sensors play an important role in industrial and domestic sectors due to increased emissions. The most popular commercial gas sensors in the market are the metal oxide-semiconducting (MOS) chemiresistive gas sensors. However, there is a growing demand for gas sensors with high sensitivity and selectivity at room temperature.
