Amino acid transporter LAT1 (SLC7A5) as a molecular target for cancer diagnosis and therapeutics

Summary: Cancer cells require a massive supply of nutrients, including amino acids. LAT1 is an amino acid transporter that is specifically expressed in cancer cells. High expression of LAT1 is associated with poor prognosis in patients. Inhibition of LAT1 can suppress cancer cell proliferation and tumor growth. LAT1 can also be used as a target for cancer diagnosis and specific delivery of anti-tumor drugs.

Summary: Although boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is a promising treatment option for malignant brain tumors, the optimal BNCT parameters for patients with immediately life-threatening, end-stage brain tumors remain unclear. In this study, BNCT was performed on 34 patients with life-threatening, end-stage brain tumors, and the results showed promising therapeutic outcomes, especially for patients who achieved a complete response. The statistical analysis revealed the optimal BNCT parameters and tumor characteristics, providing valuable reference for clinicians conducting BNCT treatment for similar patients in the future.
