Polydeoxyribonucleotide in the Treatment of Tendon Disorders, from Basic Science to Clinical Practice: A Systematic Review

Davide Bizzoca et al.

Summary: This study aims to summarize the current evidence regarding the clinical effectiveness of PDRN in the management of tendon disorders. Nine studies, including two in vivo studies and seven clinical studies, were included in this systematic review. The results showed that PDRN is effective and safe in treating tendonopathies.

A Gel-Based Proteomic Analysis Reveals Synovial α-Enolase and Fibrinogen β-Chain Dysregulation in Knee Osteoarthritis: A Controlled Trial

Maria Teresa Rocchetti et al.

Summary: This study aims to assess the differences in synovial fluid proteome between patients with severe osteoarthritis undergoing Total Knee Replacement (TKR) and control subjects. The analysis of synovial samples showed significantly different concentrations of fibrinogen beta chain (FBG) and alpha-enolase 1 (ENO1) in osteoarthritic patients compared to the control group.

Towards Precision Medicine for Osteoarthritis: Focus on the Synovial Fluid Proteome

Lorenzo Moretti et al.

Summary: This review discusses the significant biomarkers in the study of osteoarthritis (OA) and their role in diagnosing and predicting the progression of the disease. Biomarkers such as Periostin, CRTA1, MMPs, and molecules like ZHX3, LYVE1, and VEGF have been found to be altered in OA. The hormonal pathway, IL-1 as a biomarker, and the combination of biomarker analysis with clinical and radiological aspects are also discussed. The study of biomarkers in synovial fluid provides an additional tool for the diagnosis and staging of OA.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Stimulation in Osteogenesis and Chondrogenesis: Signaling Pathways and Therapeutic Implications

Katia Varani et al.

Summary: Mesenchymal stem cells play a crucial role in tissue engineering, but their therapeutic application is still debated; pulsed electromagnetic fields are used to enhance bone healing and protect joints, promoting osteogenic and chondrogenic differentiation of MSCs.

Biophysical Stimulation in Athletes' Joint Degeneration: A Narrative Review

Lorenzo Moretti et al.

Summary: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common degenerative joint disease that affects 250 million individuals worldwide, mainly elderly people. Former athletes have a higher prevalence of joint degeneration due to repetitive impact and loading, joint overuse, and rapid return to sports after injuries. Advances in biophysics have shown positive effects on joint degeneration prevention and treatment, particularly in athletes.
