Transcriptome analysis reveals long non-coding natural antisense transcripts involved in muscle development in fetal goat (Capra hircus)

Siyuan Zhan et al.

Summary: In this study, 466 antisense lncRNAs (ASlncRNAs) were identified in the longissimus dorsi muscle of goats. These ASlncRNAs were found to be potentially involved in muscle development by negatively regulating the expression of target genes and producing miRNA precursors. This research provides a catalogue of goat muscle-related ASlncRNAs and contributes to a better understanding of the roles of ASlncRNAs in muscle development.

Long non-coding RNA Gm10561 promotes myogenesis by sponging miR-432

Shanshan Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, the researchers identified the lncRNA Gm10561 as an important regulator in skeletal myogenesis. It was found that Gm10561 facilitated the proliferation and differentiation of myoblasts by acting as a sponge of miR-432 to modulate MEF2C and E2F3 expression. These findings suggest that the lncRNA-Gm10561-miR-432-MEF2C/E2F3 axis plays a crucial role in myogenesis.

Summary: This study revealed the dynamic changes in lncRNA expression in Gushi chicken breast muscle at different stages and identified the MAPK signaling pathway as playing a vital role in muscle development. The findings suggest that MEF2C and its target lncRNA may be involved in muscle regulation through the MAPK signaling pathway. This research provides valuable insights into posttranscriptional regulatory mechanisms for promoting the development of chicken breast muscles post-hatching.

Epigenetic regulation of Wnt7b expression by the cis-acting long noncoding RNA Lnc-Rewind in muscle stem cells

Andrea Cipriano et al.

Summary: This study identified a novel lncRNA, Lnc-Rewind, which regulates MuSC proliferation and expansion by influencing the expression of skeletal muscle genes and components of the WNT signaling pathway in mouse. The interaction of Lnc-Rewind with the G9a histone lysine methyltransferase mediates the repression of the Wnt7b gene, providing insights into the epigenetic regulation of adult muscle stem cells fate by lncRNAs.

Differentially Expressed MiRNAs of Goat Submandibular Glands Among Three Developmental Stages Are Involved in Immune Functions

Aili Wang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the miRNA expression profiles in different developmental stages of goat submandibular glands and identified some differentially expressed miRNAs associated with diseases. Gene Ontology and pathway analysis showed that the target genes of these miRNAs were enriched in specific pathways, particularly in Hepatitis B and cancer pathways. Further analysis using a protein-protein interaction network identified 10 miRNAs predicted to play crucial roles in the growth and development of goats, particularly in disease occurrence and prevention.

The Key Lnc (RNA)s in Cardiac and Skeletal Muscle Development, Regeneration, and Disease

Amanda Pinheiro et al.

Summary: Non-coding RNAs play a crucial role in regulating transcriptional and epigenetic activity in mammalian cells, affecting cellular homeostasis, proliferation, and differentiation. Long non-coding RNAs exhibit diverse mechanisms of action, such as competitive binding to miRNA targets, direct binding to mRNA, interaction with transcription factors, and facilitation of epigenetic modifications. They are implicated in tissue-specific expression and likely have conserved functions in establishing the striated muscle phenotype in cardiac and skeletal muscle development.
