Synthesis and Supramolecular Properties of Water-soluble Pillar[5]arenes Containig Amino Acid Residues

A. A. Nazarova et al.

Summary: Novel water-soluble pillar[5]arenes with both quaternary ammonium fragments and amino acid residues have been successfully synthesized. Experimental results show that different types of β structures are formed depending on the residues: β-sheets are formed with glycine residues, while β-loops are formed with l-alanine residues. The pillar[5]arenes containing glycine fragments form nanosized associates.

Self-Assembling Systems Based on Pillar[5]arenes and Surfactants for Encapsulation of Diagnostic Dye DAPI

Anastasia Nazarova et al.

Summary: This paper reports the development of self-assembling systems based on Pillar[5]arenes and surfactants for encapsulation of diagnostic dye DAPI, showing the potential applications in pharmaceuticals and biomedical diagnostics. By varying the molar ratio in Pillar[5]arene-surfactant systems, various types of supramolecular systems can be obtained, allowing specific interaction with drugs or fluorescent tags. The interaction between Pillar[5]arenes and surfactants is predominantly driven by cooperative electrostatic interactions.
