N. Ramadoss et al.

Summary: This study focuses on improving the mechanical and corrosion properties of aluminium hybrid metal matrix composites (AHMMCs) by using boron carbide (B4C) and boron nitride (BN) as reinforcement particles. The AHMMCs with different weight percentages of B4C and fixed weight percentage of BN were synthesized using the stirring-squeeze cast method. The results show that the microstructure and chemical composition changes significantly improve the performance of the composites, making them potentially useful in automotive and marine applications.

Summary: High entropy alloys (HEAs) were first reported in 2004, but significant progress in this field has been made since 2010 due to their unique properties and the ability to form various compositions. Researchers initially focused on equiatomic HEAs and later shifted to non-equiatomic alloys. Mechanical alloying and sintering were identified as effective methods for processing HEAs. This review discusses the properties, functional properties, and applications of mechanically alloyed HEAs, as well as the existing challenges and opportunities.

Microstructure formation mechanism and corrosion behavior of FeCrCuTiV two-phase high entropy alloy prepared by different processes

Shaoqiu Xia et al.

Summary: The microstructure and corrosion resistance of FeCrCuTiV high entropy alloy were studied, with results showing that the laser melting deposition process reduces grain size and volume fraction of Cu-rich phase. The higher cooling rate of laser melting deposition contributes to limited grain growth and decreased Cu-rich phase volume fraction. FeCrCuTiV high entropy alloy prepared by laser melting deposition exhibits better corrosion resistance in salt solution electrochemical corrosion test due to reduced Cu-rich phase.

Achieving high strength and high ductility in a high-entropy alloy by a combination of a heterogeneous grain structure and oxide-dispersion strengthening

Zhuo Cheng et al.

Summary: The study achieved an excellent combination of high strength and high ductility in the Ni2C-oCrFeTi(0.2) HEA by designing a heterogeneous grain structure and dispersing oxide nanoparticles. The dominant strengthening mechanisms included grain-boundary strengthening, oxide-dispersion strengthening, and back stress strengthening, while good ductility was mainly attributed to back stress hardening and dislocation hardening. This work provides deep insight for designing high-performance HEAs.
