ZrCo-based hydrogen isotopes storage alloys: A review

Zhaoqing Liang et al.

Summary: This review provides a comprehensive survey on the previous advances in improving hydrogen storage performances for ZrCo-based alloys. It discusses the basic hydrogen storage characteristics of ZrCo alloy, the impacts of different modification strategies on de-/hydriding rates, desorption temperature, 3He trapping ability, and cycling stability. The review emphasizes the importance of alloying in improving the performance of ZrCo-based alloys and highlights the specific functions of each element substitution.

Effects of V doping on microstructure, kinetic, and thermodynamic characteristics of Zr50-xVxCo50 (x=0, 2.5, 3.5, and 5.0) hydrogen storage alloys

Lina Liang et al.

Summary: In this study, ZrCo alloy was fabricated by V substitution, and the effects of V substitution on the microstructure, hydrogen absorption/desorption kinetics, cycling stability, and antidisproportionation properties of the alloy were investigated. The results showed that V addition improved the initial activation behavior and cycling stability of the alloy.

Distinct He-induced damage evolution in nickel-based alloys irradiated at elevated temperatures

Zhenbo Zhu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the microstructure evolution and mechanical changes of nickel-based alloys Inconel 617, Alloy 800H, and Hastelloy N under irradiation at elevated temperatures. The results suggest that Alloy 800H demonstrates better resistance to irradiation-induced hardening and has the potential to be used as a structural material for higher-temperature MSRs.

The mechanism of anti-disproportionation for Ti-doped ZrCo alloys

Mingde Wu et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the anti-disproportionation mechanism of Ti-doped ZrCo alloys and finds that the occupancy of H(8e) atoms and the bond length of Zr-H(8e) are the decisive factors affecting the anti-disproportionation performance.

Hydrogen solution in tetrahedral or octahedral interstitial sites in zirconium-cobalt hydrogen storage alloy: A first-principles study

Youshan Yang et al.

Summary: The study investigates the site occupation of H atoms in ZrCo alloys using first principle calculations, revealing that H atoms tend to occupy the inter-tetrahedron space in ZrCo hydrides. Further electronic structure studies show that the stability of ZrCo hydrides is degraded, facilitating hydrogen release.

Governmental support and renewable energy production: A cross-country review

Elena Smirnova et al.

Summary: The study aims to identify factors influencing government support for renewable energy production in China, India, and Russia. By using surveys and regression models, it was found that expanding access to financing, reducing the share of traditional energy sources, and ensuring public-private support are key drivers for the development of renewable energy markets in these countries.

Effect of Hf doping on He behavior in tritium storage material ZrCo

Xianggang Kong et al.

Summary: An exhaustive analysis based on density functional theory (DFT) simulations of the effect of Hf doping on helium behavior in ZrCo has been performed. The results showed that Hf doping reduces the volume of nearby interstitial sites, weakening their ability to accommodate helium atoms. Additionally, Hf atoms promote the capture and migration of helium atoms, improving their retention capability.
